Calgary Fire Bucket Brigade Summer Camps

Our Bucket Brigade Camps let youth ages 14-18, experience four days in the life of a firefighter and it gives them a taste of our Fire Cadet program.

They will learn a variety of firefighter skills and get a chance to:

  • wear a self contained breathing apparatus
  • search a confined maze
  • hook up a hydrant and handle a hose
  • become certified in CPR and fire extinguishers
  • and much more

Our Bucket Brigade camps are sponsored by ATCO. Space is limited so register now.

Camp information

Cost: $345.00 (includes four days, CPR and fire extinguisher certifications, water bottle, and a t-shirt)
Ages: 14-18 years old (as of July 1)
Camp dates: July 24-27, 2017 and August 15-18, 2017
Times: 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
Location: Calgary Fire Department – Fire Training Academy, 5727 23 Ave. S.E., Calgary

Additional dates may be added based on the number of youth registering for the camps. We require a minimum of 5 youth to hold a camp. If this minimum isn’t reached, camp dates may be cancelled. If this happens, we will work to add the participants to another camp date.

How to register

Spaces in our camps are filled on a first come-first served basis. To register you will need to fill out our registration package and provide payment.

Fee assistance

Through the Fair Entry program, residents of Calgary who are in financial need may receive subsidies to participate in recreation programs. This can include pools, day camps, and leisure centers.

Although the Bucket Brigade camps aren’t formally a part of the Fee Assistance program, participants who demonstrate financial need by having a valid Fee Assistance Card can pay a reduced rate of 50 percent ($172.50).

Cancellations and refunds

To receive a full refund, cancellations need to be done at least 14 days before the start of the program. All cancellations that happen less than 14 days before the program starts, will be charged a cancellation fee equal to 25 percent of the full program fee.

Once the camp has started, if you need to leave for medical reasons and you have a doctors notes, you will receive a refund for the remaining days in the program. If you don’t have a doctor’s note than a refund will not be issued.
