About the park
Elliston Park is located in the deep south east
along 17 Avenue next to the East Calgary Landfill Site
and contains a 20 hectare storm water retention pond. Elliston Park is the site of the annual Globalfest fireworks competition
and home of the first BP BirthPlace Forest
The west parking lot is accessible off 60 St. S.E. and the east parking lot is accessible off 68 St. S.E.
Elliston Park was named after the Ellis family who, for five generations, have lived in and around the park since Shepard S. Ellis, his wife, and their nine children left Ontario to homestead in the West in 1912. The park was named after the family in 1995 for the many contributions to, and activities in, East Calgary, Conrich, and Chestermere Lake.
