YYC Trees: Pruning & Disease 101
Have you ever pruned your trees and were not sure if you were doing it right? Have you looked at your trees and noticed they aren’t as healthy as they use to be and wondered what could be happening to them. Pruning & Disease 101 will cover what you need to know before “making the cut” as well as cover common tree diseases in Calgary, what they look like, what treatments can be used and where to go for more information. This is a beginner to intermediate course, but also a great venue for community experts to help educate their neighbours and discuss community tree care. After this course you can feel confident pruning and maintaining the health of your trees.

Still have questions? Don’t worry! There will be plenty of time for Q & A with a ISA certified Calgary Parks Urban Forester at the end of the presentation.

YYC Trees: Trees and What to Grow under Them
Trees are an important element of your garden’s design. Whether you have inherited a mature tree, or plan on adding a new tree, our “Trees and What to Grow Under Them” will give you all the help and guidance you need to get the most out of incorporating trees into your garden design. Led by experts from the Calgary Horticultural Society in partnership with Calgary Parks, you will learn about choosing the right tree for the space and what flowering shrubs, plants, groundcovers and ferns are adapted to shady conditions and will allow you to have a full, colorful garden. Our experts will guide you in how to create a diverse garden which will support healthy trees.

YYC Trees: Building Calgary: Tree by Tree

Learn about early settlers who had grand visions of Calgary as a City of Trees and how we continue to honor their work. Discover Calgary’s heritage trees, where they are located and how you can be a part of building Calgary’s Urban Forest for generations to come!
