Please note: In September 2011 the Calgary Board of Education and Calgary Separate School District are opening nine P3 (Public – Private Partnership) schools. We are piloting different access options in these nine schools only. For Christ The King Elem/Jr High School, Light of Christ Elem/Jr High School, Our Lady of the Evergreens Elem School, Bridlewood School, Cranston School, Evergreen School, Royal Oak School, Saddle Ridge School and West Springs School the priority will be to given to  providing children and youth with first choice for bookings prior to 8 pm on weekdays.

1. Check for facility availability

  • Browse here for available dates and times for your school gym needs.
  • Consider two or three potential dates and locations. You will need to identify your choices by the name of the school, date and time.
  • Please be aware that facility availability changes quickly and what appears to be an open booking time on an availability list, may have applications pending.
  • Please review theschool use and facility regulations as well as the school use equipment regulations before booking.

3. Your confirmation and payment

  • If you have requested school gymnasium space a customer Service representative will contact you by e-mail in approximately 3 - 5 business days to confirm your rental and make payment arrangements.

Payment options:

  • By phone: you can pay with your Visa, MasterCard or American Express number by contacting our main booking line at 403-268-3800 and selecting option 2.
  • In person: at our Customer Service Centre, 2808 Spiller Road SE, Calgary, during regular business hours (Monday - Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 4 p.m.).
  • By mail: time permitting, by mailing a cheque to The City of Calgary Recreation, #68, P.O. Box 2100, stn M, Calgary, AB, T2P 2M5. (Make cheque payable to “The City of Calgary”)

Please note:

  • Payment for permits with less than 5 bookings are due immediately.
  • Payment for permits with 5 or more bookings are due 14 days prior to the first booking date.
  • If we have not received payment after the due date has lapse, we may cancel your permit and renewal rights may be lost.
  • Your permit is your official invoice.

Cancellations or Amendments

  • An administrative fee of $10 (plus GST) will be charged to the renter for any cancellations of times or dates after the permit has been issued. Please note: Effective April 1, 2011 the administrative fee of $10 (plus GST) will be charged once for up to 10 cancellations or amendments, per permit, per request.
  • Cancellations or amendments must be received by Recreation's Customer Service Centre a minimum of 14 days in advance of the rental date. Failure to observe this deadline will result in the organization being charged the full cost of the rental.
  • Cancellations or amendment requests must be submitted on an amendment request form to facilitybookings@calgary.ca.

Timelines for Booking Periods & Applications

  • September - December (fall session) - Public day is the first week of August.
  • January - June (winter/spring session) - Public day is the first week of December.
  • July and August (summer session) - applications are due the first week in June.
  • Please contact Customer Service Centre for exact dates.
