The permit application process

To initiate an application for a Roads permit, you can choose one of the following three options:

1. Roads ePermits Now Available Online:

ePermits

We are pleased to announce that you can now apply for your street use, hoarding and associated temporary no parking permits, banner over roadways, block party, bleachers, street use filming, newspaper boxes, new community directional sign, excavations, and over dimensional permits online using our  Roads ePermits website

With this new online system, you can apply for a permit to use or occupy space on any City road right-of-way 24 hours a day, seven days a week. If you need help or additional explanation when using the ePermits website, please view the tutorial video below, read the registration information or send an email to  epermits.traffic@calgary.ca

See the ePermits frequently asked questions for more information.

2. Submit an eService online request.

Permits for horse-drawn vehicles, rickshaws and pedicabs, special parking, and special truck routes can be submitted online using an eService request.

3. Call 311 to speak to an agent.

An agent will take the basic application information required and then forward the information to the appropriate Roads division for fulfillment. Note that the Service Request (SR) number you receive from 311 for your application is NOT your permit number. You will only be issued a permit number after you have been contacted by the respective division within Roads and have met the application criteria.

If initiating the application via 311 or by eService, note that some permit applications may also require a visit to the Traffic Permits Counter for fulfillment:
