Throw 'n' Go facilities are set up at the entrance of all three City landfills to allow residents safe and convenient recycling or disposal of the following:
Materials accepted at no charge
Onward/ Protecting public health through efficient waste collection and disposal. | 80/20 Waste Reduction Plan: By 2020, per capita waste sent to City of Calgary landfills is reduced from 2007 levels by 80 per cent.
Electronics (end-of-life)
Electronics are now accepte at City landfills. See what end-of-life electronics we accept.
Tires
All vehicle tires are accepted at City landfills, including tires with rims. Loads of more than 12 tires must be taken to the Shepard Landfill.
Household chemicals
Some household chemicals and waste can be brought to City landfills. See what kinds of hazardous waste materials we accept.
Christmas trees
Christmas trees can be brought to any landfill during the Christmas Tree Recycling program.
Materials accepted - charges apply
- Appliances (emptied fridges, freezers, stoves, dishwashers, washers, dryers and microwaves)
- Residential air conditioners.
