Engineers-in-Training (EIT) Rotation Program

The City provides unique employment opportunities for recent university civil or chemical engineering graduates who are registered, or in the process of registering, as Members-in-Training with APEGA. An Engineer-in-Training (EIT) may be employed with The City in one of two ways:

  1. As a trainee in the EIT Rotation Program.
  2. As a trainee in a regular established engineer position.

The EIT Rotation Program will give you the engineering experience and professional development needed to meet APEGA’s professional engineering requirements. You will receive regular coaching and be involved in shaping your engineering career at The City. Job competitions are held yearly with postings going out in February/March with employment start dates in May/June.

2018 opportunities may be limited, given the current economic climate and The City's intentional management practices for hiring.

“The program allows me to develop the skills, knowledge and practical experience required to obtain my P.Eng. designation. It gives me satisfaction to know the results of my work will directly improve the lives of over a million Calgarians." Chris Tse, E.I.T., Water Resources
“Within months of my first position at The City, I’ve already had the chance to receive one-on-one career support, attend several different courses and professional development sessions, and get to know other EITs in the program. This is on top of the practical experience I am gaining in my day-to-day work.” Kelsey Kublik, E.I.T., Water Services
