Funding Information Management System (FIMS)

We are launching a new online platform called the Funding Information Management System (FIMS) for non-profit organizations.

What is FIMS?

FIMS will be an online system that will be used by non-profit organizations to manage their contact details, funding applications, supporting documents and year-end reports with The City of Calgary in a secure online environment.

FIMS is a completely separate system from the FCSS Social Inclusion Indicators (FSII) database. The FSII database focuses on surveys which identify programs that are making a measurable, positive change for all participants.

How will it be released?

FIMS will be rolled out in phases to coincide with our business cycle. The first phase and related training will be available by May 1, 2017. We will share more information with affected organizations in the coming months.

Phase 1: Our focus in this phase is on currently funded non-profit organizations.

Who will be affected in this phase?

Non-profit organizations who are currently funded by The City through Family & Community Support Services (FCSS) Calgary or the Crime Prevention Investment Plan (CPIP).

What will I be able to do in this phase?

  • Log onto FIMS using myID business account.
  • Access and update your profile, contact and account information online.
  • Submit and view the status of funding applications.

How are organizations involved in developing FIMS?

We've convened a FIMS user group made up of representatives from funded organizations who will use the new system. Their role is to provide feedback on the system and processes and raise awareness of FIMS within their networks.

The FIMS user group will meet throughout 2017. Members include:

What types of organizations are eligible for funding?

Only non-profit organizations registered under the Societies” Act or Companies’ Act in Alberta and operating within Calgary’s city limits are eligible to apply. In addition, the organization must be well established with a track record for effective program delivery.

How will my organization access FIMS?

Your organization will access FIMS through a myID business account. A myID business account is a single sign-on approach used by businesses and organizations to access City services online.

What is a myID business account?

A myID business account is a single sign-on approach used by a businesses and organizations to access City online services. To create a myID business account, your organization will need to have a business ID number (BID) and a primary email address registered with The City.

My organization doesn’t have a myID business account. How do we create one?

To create a myID business account, your organization will need to have a business ID number (BID) and a primary email address registered with The City. If you have both, visit myid.calgary.ca to register for a myID business account.

Once you have registered, an activation code and link will be emailed to the registered business primary email address.

My organization doesn’t have a business ID number. How do we get one?

To register, complete one of the following steps:

  • Register online at bis.calgary.ca; or
  • Register in person at the Planning Services Centre located on the third floor of the Calgary Municipal Building at 800 Macleod Trail S.E.

When you register, you will also be asked to provide a primary email address.  This email address should belong to an authority in the organization that can accept and/or reject business related requests.  You will need this primary email address – along with your Business ID number – to create your myID business account.

I’ve confirmed that our organization has a business ID number but we need to register a primary email address with The City. How do we do that?

To register your organization’s primary email address, complete one of the following steps:

The primary email address should belong to an authority in the organization who can accept and/or reject business-related requests.

Note: It can take up to two days for a primary email address to be updated in the system.

I already have a personal myID account to access City services. Why can’t I use that account to access FIMS?

Your personal myID account can only be used to access personal services, like recreational programs and services, not organizational services like FIMS. You’ll need to create a myID business account by visiting myid.calgary.ca using your business ID number and registered email address. Once you have registered, an activation code and link will be emailed to the registered business primary email address.
