Employee profile - Zachary Kwantes
Position: Recreation Leader
How long have you worked for the City of Calgary?
I have been working for the City of Calgary for almost two years as a Recreation Leader in the Calgary After School Program.
What are some of your daily tasks/duties?
I facilitate programs which I have designed, and purposefully spend time building relationships with the youth that come to program. This can range anywhere from helping youth develop critical thinking skills through the medium of television, to cooking, to mastering new skills such as making a movie or creating a board game.
What is your favourite part of your job?
My favourite aspect of my job is the relationships I build.
What would you say to someone who is interested in working as a Recreation Leader?
Working with youth is one of the most rewarding jobs but also one of the most emotionally draining. If you're going to do it, you've got to love it.
