The Downtown Calgary Incentive Program is a cornerstone of The City’s Downtown Strategy and a major driver of the vision and goals of Calgary’s Greater Downtown Plan. The program supports downtown property owners to redevelop or remove underused office space and bring in a greater mix of amenities and services that support a thriving and resilient downtown community.

The Downtown Calgary Development Incentive Program supports office space conversions to residential units, hotels, schools and performing arts centres.

Effective October 17, 2023 acceptance of new applications for the Downtown Calgary Development Incentive Program (Residential, Hotel, School and Performing Arts facility uses), will be paused, pending updates to the Program Terms of Reference and securing additional funding.

Council priorities were endorsed through Calgary’s Housing Strategy, and an updated Terms of Reference will be prepared for Council approval. Further updates will be provided on this site once additional information on a new Terms of Reference for the program and potential funding is made available.
