Ward 8 - Nathaniel Schmidt

26 Ave SW Improvements

Updates

August 11, 2026

Construction is expected to begin in the coming days, starting with water utility upgrades between 14 Street SW and 18 Street SW. To reduce impacts, the project has been divided into east and west segments on either side of Crowchild Trail, each with its own construction phases. Phase 1 of the west segment (25 St SW to 26 St SW) begins this month, while Phase 1 of the east segment (14 St SW to 16 St SW) will begin once utility work is complete.

For more information about the project, including timelines on future phases and maps, visit: 26 Avenue S.W. improvements

While the project plans were already well underway before our office began, we have heard concerns about parking removal and questions about the bike lane design, including their impacts on residents and businesses along the corridor. I am continuing conversations about both the inconvenience these changes may cause and the traffic safety improvements the project aims to achieve.

Please reach out to our office anytime with your questions and we will continue to provide updates as they are available.
