The City of Calgary (The City) has extended the deadline to March 2, 2026 for submissions to the Beltline Aquatic Centre and Historic YWCA (the Facilities) Open Request for Expression of Interest (OREOI). This extension is intended to allow interested applicants more time to prepare for the unique responsibilities associated with rehabilitating and activating these buildings.

The Facilities represent significant heritage and community value requiring thoughtful planning to ensure their preservation and future use align with community and cultural goals. The additional time will support applicants in developing proposals that reflect the complexity of the Facilities, including considerations for building condition, heritage conservation, and innovative programming.

It is important to note that the Facilities are not currently deemed safe for occupancy and will require investment prior to obtaining occupancy from the Development Authority. The City is currently working through a pre-application to understand requirements for occupancy, which may help inform future tenant plans. (see Property Brochure page 5 for known details).

All capital and operating costs associated with the occupancy, ongoing maintenance, and programming of the Facilities will be the sole responsibility of the successful proponent. Applicants are encouraged to factor this into their planning and explore sustainable models for long-term viability.
