Abuse of our senior citizens and elders is a very real and very frightening problem. Studies have found that nearly 1 in 10 senior citizens reports some sort of abuse, including financial abuse, psychological abuse, physical abuse and neglect. Elder Abuse Reponse Team

The Elder Abuse Response Team (EART) investigates the abuse and neglect of older adults (65 and over) in power based relationships (spouses abusing spouses, children abusing their parents/step-parents and grandchildren who abuse their grandparents). EART investigates cases of physical abuse, sexual abuse, emotional abuse, psychological abuse, financial exploitation, neglect, abandonment, and family domestic and relationship violence that affects older adults and are are high risk and/or chronic in nature.

EART also acts as a resource to other units within the Calgary Police Service and external community partnerships by providing advice, investigative expertise, risk assessment, safety planning and ongoing training in the area of elder abuse.

EART is a collaboration of the Calgary Police Service, the Kerby Centre and Carya​.
