Members of the media who wish to receive the latest news releases and media advisories from the Calgary Police Service can call 403-428-7979.

Requests for statistics

Statistics related to person and property crimes, disorder, traffic, domestic conflict, drugs, weapons and youth crime in Calgary are published quarterly on the Calgary Police statistical reports page.

If you require more detailed or specific analysis, submit your request as far in advance of your deadline as possible, as detailed breakdowns can take several days to compile.

Ride-along requests

Ride-along requests for journalists are dependent on officer availability and cannot always be accommodated.

Requests must have a strong focus and purpose. Several forms and clearances need to be completed before a ride-along can occur, including a Police Information Check.

Please allow plenty of time for this process and call the media line at 403-428-7979 to discuss the focus of your story.

Journalism students

Where possible, we are happy to assist students with requests for interviews. Due to limited officer availability, we may not be able to accommodate interview requests for class assignments.

To help us assist you, be prepared with as much detail about your request as possible:

  • Research before calling (review the Calgary Police statistical reports page, City of Calgary Newsroom, etc.).
  • Focus your request to ensure we get the right people for you.
  • Please make every effort to attend scheduled media availabilities. Officers are not always available to accommodate interviews outside of that time.
