Requests for statistics

Statistics related to person and property crimes, disorder, traffic, domestic conflict, drugs, weapons and youth crime in Calgary are published on the Calgary Police statistical reports page. Monthly statistics by community can be viewed using the Community Safety Dashboard.

Note: Detailed breakdowns or specific analysis can take several days to compile. If you require more detailed stats or specific analysis for your story, please submit your request through the media line as far in advance of your deadline as possible.

Ride-along requests

Ride-along requests for journalists are dependent on officer availability and cannot always be accommodated.

Requests must have a strong focus and purpose. Several forms and clearances need to be completed before a ride-along can occur, including a Police Information Check.

Please allow plenty of time for this process and call the media line at 403-428-7979 to discuss the focus of your story.

Documentary and Long-Form Production Requests

The Calgary Police Service receives numerous requests each year to participate in documentaries, podcasts and other long-form productions each year.

Due to several factors, including resource constraints and privacy concerns, the Service is not able to accommodate every request, however all requests are reviewed as promptly as possible.

To submit a request, please contact the CPS Media Line.

Journalism students

Where possible, we are happy to assist students with requests for interviews. Due to limited officer availability, we may not be able to accommodate interview requests for class assignments.

To help us assist you, be prepared with as much detail about your request as possible:

  • Research before calling (review the Calgary Police statistical reports page, City of Calgary Newsroom, etc.).
  • Focus your request to ensure we get the right people for you.
  • Please make every effort to attend scheduled media availabilities. Officers are not always available to accommodate interviews outside of that time.
