Access to Information Request
On June 11, 2025, the new Access to Information Act (“ATIA”) came into force replacing the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act. Additional updates regarding the processing of Access Requests under the ATIA, will be posted to this page, please check back regularly.
What does this mean for you: All access to information requests received on or after June 12, 2025, will be processed in accordance with the new ATIA.

To submit an access to information request to the Calgary Police Service, please read the following instructions carefully and provide us with all necessary documents to avoid delays in processing your request.
1) If you are looking to access personal information regarding yourself, you must include a copy of your government issued photo ID AND a ‘selfie’ of you holding your ID for verification purposes. You may also attend a district office with your completed form and have the Officer at the front counter verify your ID on the form. They will then forward the verified form to our office.
2) If you are accessing personal information of another individual other than yourself, you must also provide written proof of authorization (ie. Signed consent, Guardianship, Power of Attorney, Executorship, etc)
3) Accessing general information requires a $25.00 initial fee. Once we receive your completed access request form, we will contact you to arrange payment. Please ensure that your contact information on the form is up do date so we can reach you during the day.
4) Completed request forms along with the required documentation can be submitted by:

Please note that we are experiencing a higher than normal volume of access requests and phone calls, which may result in a delay in responding to you. Once you have submitted your request to us, we will process it in the order that it was received. An acknowledgement letter will be sent to you once the request has been opened, or we will contact you should additional information be required.
