Junior Police Academy
Have you ever wondered what it's like to be a police officer? The Calgary Police Service Junior Police Academy gives youth aged 12 to 16 the opportunity to find out.
Junior Police Academy runs three times a year:
- Spring break
- The 3rd week of July
- The 3rd week of August
There are 25 spots available per session. During the July session we partner with Big Brothers & Big Sisters and during the August Session we partner with Boys & Girls Club of Calgary.
Youth registered in the Junior Police Academy experience a look into the life of a Calgary police officer and many policing aspects including:
- HAWCS helicopters
- K9
- Mounted Unit
- Crime Scene Unit
- Tactical Team
- Traffic Unit
- Public Safety Unit
Youth will also participate in presentations from a detective, the Gang Suppression Team and have the chance to learn about the history of the Calgary Police Service. The week concludes with participants marching on parade and receiving certificates.
If you're interested in joining the Junior Police Academy, submit the application form and include a short essay (no more than 250 words) expressing your interest in participating. There are no costs associated with this program. Youth will be selected one month before the session begins.
