COVID-19 safety protocols will be in place for The City of Calgary’s 2021 General Election to help reduce the risk of COVID-19 transmission among workers, campaign volunteers, candidates and voters.
Contributions to a campaign cannot be made until the individual has filed their nomination papers and is an official candidate. A candidate must issue a receipt for each contribution they receive.
Roadside campaign signs
All roadside campaign signs must comply with The City’s Temporary Signs on Highways Bylaw 29M97 (Section 8). If you have concerns about roadside campaign signs, please contact 311.
Campaigning in or near a voting station
Voters have a right to vote in an environment that is protected from outside influence. Candidates are not allowed to campaign, advertise or influence votes in and on the property surrounding a building used as a voting station. If you have a concern about a campaigning activities occurring in or on the property surrounding a building used as a voting station, please contact 311.
Elections Calgary is committed to safe, secure and accessible election. Nothing is more important to us than maintaining voter confidence and ensuring an unbiased and accurate election. We have many processes set up to ensure the integrity and security of the election.
All candidates, regardless of being self-funded or accepting contributions, and third party advertisers are required to file a disclosure statement after the election with the municipality and/or school division in which they sought election or advertised.
