Water construction, upgrades and repairs

New construction projects to improve and expand our water and waste water systems and mitigate potential flooding issues in our storm water system. Upgrades to Calgary's existing water infrastructure help expand its capacity and ensure it can meet the demands of a growing City. Upgrades also ensure we are using the latest technology and knowledge to conserve and protect our water resources. The City of Calgary, through the Stormwater Quality Retrofit Program (SWQR), is adding more wet ponds to long-established areas of the city. Wet ponds protect the quality of water in our rivers by slowing the water down and allowing sediment to settle out. Plants in the wet ponds help remove pollutants.

Water Main repairs and maintenance
Through a network of over 4650 kms of water mains (also called water distribution pipes), our water distribution system carries high quality drinking water from our water treatment plants to your home. The City makes sure that a leak or a break in these pipes is handled quickly and efficiently.
