Calgary Police Service Alarm Permits
The Calgary Police Service Alarm Bylaw Unit and the City of Calgary Alarm Services Bylaw 31M95 promote the responsible use of alarm systems. A valid and subsisting alarm permit must be issued for each alarm system in use at a premises. Please see the city of Calgary's Alarm Services Bylaw (31M95) for more information.
The issuance of alarm permits to residential and commercial premises and the collection of associated fees for false alarm penalties is administered and managed by the Alarm Bylaw Unit. The Unit can be contacted at 403-428-8336 or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org.

Permit Registration Requirements
** Note: The permit application and/or renewal fee is the responsibility of the premises owner and the Calgary Police Service will NOT accept payments for applications or renewal payments from alarm agencies unless accompanied by a signed authorization form from the permit holder. Permit registration and annual renewal fee:
- $15 residential permits
- $20 commercial (including financial, school, show home) permits
Obtaining a new alarm permit
To obtain your Alarm Permit, please complete the Alarm Permit Application and return to Calgary Police Service via any method indicated below (Submitting your application or renewal).
Renewing an existing alarm permit
Existing permit holders will receive an alarm permit renewal notice annually in the mail prior to the month their original permit was first issued. In order to ensure the Calgary Police Service has the most up-to-date information, please cross out any incorrect detail/s on the notice and write in the correct information or fill in missing detail/s. For commercial/financial/school premises please ensure a contact name and email address is noted as well as hours of operation for each day of the week.
* Important: Keyholder information is mandatory. Unless you utilize a guard service, the Calgary Police Service requires a minimum of two non-resident keyholders on file. Keyholder responsibilities are listed in the Alarm Services Bylaw 31M95, Section 25.11 (Notice of Contact Persons).
Submitting your application or renewal
Once your permit or renewal has been completed, please submit the paperwork, along with the applicable registration/renewal fee, using one of the following methods:

The Calgary Police Service is responsible for processing false alarm penalties associated with false alarms. Alarm calls where the Calgary Police Service has attended are reviewed daily and a false alarm penalty notice is sent to the alarm agency for any false alarms.
