Scotia Place continues to take shape as roof installation begins

Construction at Scotia Place continued to gain momentum last month, with major progress enclosing the south-side walls and the start of roof installation.

In March, a key milestone was reached with the placement of the first roof truss. The massive steel structure weighs 79 tonnes, about the weight of 50 pickup trucks, and measures 56 metres long and 12 metres high. Once complete, the roof structure will support up to 181 metric tonnes of lighting, sound and event equipment, a significant increase from the 40.8 metric tonnes supported by The Saddledome.

Throughout the month, crews also poured the final exterior wall, advanced steel framing along the north side of the building, and continued exterior stud and drywall work on the south side. Interior construction progressed as concrete was poured and steel installation began for the food hall and north restaurant areas, while metal deck roofing was completed on the west-side restaurants.
