Where Calgary gathers—a new home to connect, celebrate and create shared memories, anchored by lively plazas, unique dining and downtown’s newest community arena.
The 1,000-seat ESSO Community Arena at Scotia Place is built for connection and play. It hosts practices for Calgary’s professional teams by day and bookable for community teams on evenings and weekends at 15% below the average rental rate at other City of Calgary facilities.

Outdoor plazas
An inviting community space for people to connect and celebrate year-round with:

A large viewing screen that extends from the southwest corner of the building through to the southwest plaza, creating a gathering space to watch games, events and community celebrations.

The future home of Calgary Flames Red Lot, with space for up to 3,000 people for everyday use and event-day activations.

Open plaza space can expand to accommodate Room for upwards of 5,000 guests people when neighbouring streets are closed to traffic and transformed into a community event space and festival street for local markets and cultural events.

Scotia Place
A premier venue for sports, entertainment and community. The event and ice surfaces are located 11 metres (35 feet) below ground, allowing for ground-level access at all entrances and a barrier-free experience for guests.
Indoor community plaza
This bookable, flexible indoor public space is designed for year-round use, accommodating everything from community gatherings to special events. It can also expand into the outdoor plazas when needed, offering added versatility beyond ticketed events.
ESSO community arena
This 1,000-seat indoor arena—partially funded by the Government of Alberta—will be open for public bookings on evenings and weekends at a discounted rate.
Outdoor public plazas
The north, south, and west plazas are designed for daily use for events and community activities. A large viewing screen will in the south outdoor plaza will be the future home of the Red Lot for the Calgary Flames—creating a dynamic space for public viewing parties.
Future development site
This northeast corner site is available for future redevelopment, offering potential for new investment, increased property tax revenue and added vibrancy to the surrounding community.

Enjoy four unique dining spots and a café along the north and west plazas—each offering indoor and patio seating. Perfect for a quick bite or a relaxed meal in any season.

Loading docks and parkade
Loading is located underground, providing efficient service access for team buses and deliveries while preserving public space at ground level. The 500-stall above and below grade parkade also offers direct access to Scotia Place.
