Accessibility highlights

  • Metres below ground 11

    11 metres (35 feet) below ground is where guests will find the main event and ice surfaces. This means guests enter at street level, creating a seamless experience from the moment they arrive.

  • Flex washrooms 13

    13 flex washrooms with 85 stalls will be found throughout Scotia Place. They’re designed to be accessible and to easily adapt for events with more men, more women, or a balanced mix of both.

  • Service animal relief areas 2

    2 designated service animal relief areas (one inside and one outside) will be available at Scotia Place, ensuring accessibility and comfort for guests and their service animals.

The facility provides a barrier-free connection between vibrant outdoor plazas and the inviting indoor spaces.

  • Integrated assistive listening technology throughout the venue.

Arrive in comfort and move confidently through the spaces with:

  • Accessible parking on every parkade level for added convenience.
  • Dedicated drop-off zones for safe, easy access.
  • Outdoor pathways linking entrances, plazas and interiors.
  • Easy-to-follow site-wide signage and wayfinding systems.

Washrooms designed for all

100% accessible washrooms featuring:

  • Gender neutral and flex washrooms that adapt to different events and audiences.
  • Doorless entrances where possible.
  • Accessible and limited mobility stalls for added support.
  • Universal washrooms equipped with baby-size and adult-size change tables.
  • Additional accessibility features including ceiling lifts and emergency call systems.
  • First aid rooms directly connected for privacy and accessibility.

Community arena

The community arena welcomes all ages and abilities with:

  • Universally accessible change rooms designed for inclusive participation.
  • On and off ice adaptable features for sledge hockey and other inclusive sports.
  • Universally accessible hockey boards for better visibility for participants and spectators.

Meaningful initiatives

Scotia Place is pursuing the Rick Hansen Foundation Accessibility Certification™ (RHFAC), a national certification program that promotes meaningful accessibility in public spaces.  

By working toward RHFAC certification, the venue will: 

  • Foster inclusive spaces where everyone feels welcomed.
  • Promote awareness of the importance of accessible environments.
  • Empower people of all abilities through meaningful participation.
