Scotia Place reaches more structural milestones

Construction at Scotia Place is moving full steam ahead, with the building’s scale and form becoming clearer each month. February marked another busy month on site, as major structural elements continued to take shape.

Throughout the month crews poured the outer walls of the parkade and advanced steel and concrete work across multiple levels of the building, helping further define both the interior spaces and the building’s overall shape.

Work continued in the upper seating bowl with ongoing stadia installation, while the temporary support for the first roof truss was installed.

Structural steel framing also progressed for the west‑side cocktail lounge and restaurant, offering an early glimpse of future premium gathering spaces.

World Cup coming to Calgary

We would like to congratulate Tourism Calgary, Explore Edmonton, and the Oilers Entertainment Group, along with our project partners at the Calgary Sports and Entertainment Corporation and the Government of Alberta, on the exciting announcement that Calgary and Edmonton will host the 2028 World Cup of Hockey. As part of the tournament, six round robin games and one elimination game will be played at Calgary’s Scotia Place, with the semi‑finals and finals taking place in Edmonton at Rogers Place.

This announcement brings a major international sporting event to Alberta and reinforces Calgary and Edmonton’s shared role as hosts for world‑class hockey. Hosting World Cup games at Scotia Place highlights its future role as a premier venue for global sporting and entertainment events, while supporting continued investment and revitalization in downtown Calgary.
