    With 181 metric tonnes (400,000 lbs) of rigging capacity, Scotia Place's roof can support four times more lighting and sound equipment than the Saddledome.

Sporting events

As the future home of the Calgary Flames, Wranglers, Hitmen and Roughnecks, Scotia Place is designed to bring fans closer to the action, offering improved sightlines, modern amenities and a dynamic environment that elevates every event.

Planned features include:

  • Enhanced fan amenities and gathering spaces for meeting, relaxing and socializing

  • Expanded food and beverage offerings with more places to eat and drink

  • Flex washrooms to help increase capacity and reduce wait times

  • Wider concourses that make it easier to move around the venue

  • Modern digital and in-game experiences supported by updated screens, lighting, sound and technology

Concerts and live entertainment

A venue for top-tier musical acts and the best performers. Designed to support modern touring productions, Scotia Place will offer the flexibility and technical capabilities needed to welcome major concerts, live entertainment and large-scale events.

Planned features include:

  • Flexible seating configurations

  • Retractable centre-hung scoreboard for improved sightlines

  • Expanded stage capabilities

  • Acoustic design that improves sound quality throughout the venue 181-tonne (400,000 lbs) sound and lighting equipment capacity

A venue for every occasion

Scotia Place is meant to host far more than sports and concerts. Flexible seating configurations, adaptable event spaces and modern production infrastructure will allow the venue to accommodate a wide range of events and experiences year-round.

Land acknowledgement

Calgary sits on fertile land where two rivers meet, where Indigenous Peoples have been gathering for thousands of years, sharing knowledge and storytelling, and planning for future generations. The traditional names for this place we know as Calgary are Moh-kins-tsis, Wîchispa Oyade, Otos-kwunee and Guts-ists’i — the land that has given so much to so many.

Elders teach us the importance of acknowledging the land of where we gather, settle or visit, and offering gratitude for the generosity of the gifts that Mother Earth has shared with us. With this, we offer respect for those who traditionally lived on this land, and welcome those who have made Calgary their home.

Calgary is located on the traditional territories of the people of the Treaty 7 region in Southern Alberta. This includes the Blackfoot Confederacy, made up of the Siksika, Piikani, and Kainai First Nations; the Îethka Nakoda Wîcastabi First Nations, comprised of the Chiniki, Bearspaw, and Wesley First Nations; and the Tsuut’ina First Nation. Calgary is also homeland to the historic Northwest Métis and to Métis Nation of Alberta, Region 3. We acknowledge all Indigenous urban Calgarians who have made this city their home. Together, their spiritual and practical relationships to the land create rich lessons for our life as a community.

We are thankful for the opportunity that this sacred place provides us to engage in reconciliation and to make life better every day for all who call Calgary home.
