Westbrook Station Area
About the project
An initial concept plan was approved in 2014, and the land was sold to a private developer. The site was not developed, and The City repurchased the land in 2024.
The City is updating the concept plan by considering new land uses, site design, and a development approach that reflects current market conditions. A planning and design consultant has been hired to support site analysis and community engagement for future planning applications for an updated concept plan.
The updated concept plan will reflect community input and transit-oriented development principles. These include high-quality open space, strong connections to Westbrook Station, and a mix of housing and retail.
Community outreach and next steps
Community engagement will take place in June 2026 through a variety of formats. Visit www.westbrookstation.ca to learn more.
A formal planning application is expected to be submitted to The City in Fall 2026. The application will be reviewed by The City’s development application review team. It will then go to Calgary Planning Commission for a recommendation, and to Council for a final decision at a public hearing.
Further opportunities for the community to provide feedback will be available during The City’s review process and at the public hearing.
