Maintenance and Storage Facility Grading and Site Servicing
Prior to building the Maintenance and Storage Facility (MSF), some initial grading and utility work was required to prepare the site for main construction.

Because the existing area hadn’t been touched for several years, 91,000 cubic metres of topsoil was removed to clear and level the site. Once this work was completed, two dry ponds were created at the west end of the site to manage runoff and protect the surrounding environment.
Consecutively, essential underground infrastructure was also installed, including water mainlines, sanitary sewer lines, and stormwater systems. These utilities are critical for supporting the operations of the MSF, which will store, service and maintain the fleet of light rail vehicles. Adjacent to the facility, Shepard Station will feature:
- a 920-stall Park & Ride for convenient commuter access,
- bus terminals to integrate multiple transit modes, and
- a public plaza designed to create a welcoming space for riders and the community.
With site preparation complete, the next phase of work will focus on constructing the MSF building.
