Overview
Green Line LRT is a city shaping transit service that improves mobility choices for Calgarians, connecting people and places and enhancing the quality of life in Calgary.
Phase 1 of the Green Line will begin with building the core from Lynnwood/Millican in the southeast to Eau Claire downtown. It will provide light rail transit (LRT) service over a 10-kilometre route with seven stations, connecting into the existing Red and Blue LRT and two MAX rapid transit routes.
Green Line’s fleet of new modern low floor train cars will improve accessibility and allow stations to integrate easily into the community.
When does construction start?
Main construction of tracks, stations and tunnels will begin in late 2024 and is expected to take approximately six years to complete. A series of advance projects to prepare for main construction have been underway since early in this decade with work downtown, in the Beltline and Ogden.
What is the budget for Green Line?
The Green has $6.248 billion in funding from The City of Calgary, Province of Alberta and Government of Canada.
How many people are expected to use Green Line?
Green Line will carry riders making 32,000 trips a day in year one of operation and provide direct access to 162,400 jobs in downtown and southeast industrial areas.
