Local business feature - Café Alchemist

Airy and minimalist, Café Alchemist lets its aromatic brews and vibrant foods do the talking. Located off Stephen Avenue and 2nd Street S.W., this coffee house and lunch stop offers a host of healthy, quality-focused dishes infused with global flavors.

“Café Alchemist originally was a concept to bring the community together, collaborate and bring something different to meet the gap between fast food and fine dining,” says Sam Ovaici, co-founder of Café Alchemist.

Café Alchemist owes its name to a philosophy of transforming the ordinary into the extraordinary. The café is focused on refining its service, the quality of its hot and cold brews and the flavours of its health-conscious culinary concepts into something modern and uncompromising.

“We are always up to something new, at the same time we try to keep it exciting,” notes Sam. “We have our secret menu that people ask us about or they need to go to our social media where we announce special food.”

There’s great news for those who are craving the fine-dining café experience in full but loathe the hassle of driving during the lunch rush. Green Line’s LRT will feature several future downtown stations that will help Calgarians make those much-needed connections into downtown.

The future 7 Avenue SW station will do just that – it will be only a few blocks’ walking distance from Café Alchemist, along with numerous other unique businesses, services and diners that one can only find downtown.

Like many local business owners, Sam understands the value of efficient and comprehensive public transit, “Having a transit system that’s reliable, that’s on time – I feel like it brings a lot more people downtown. We can get here much easier without having to worry about parking, gas or traffic.”
