Ramsay Inclusive Playground

To make room for the Ramsay/Inglewood Station, Green Line needed to relocate utilities which resulted in the removal of Jeffries Park playground.

Through a partnership with the Parks Department, Parks Foundation Calgary and the Ramsey Community Association, we were able to rebuild a new and inclusive play space for the community. The Ramsay Inclusive Playground is located at Macdonald Ave SE and Bellevue Ave SE. This play space includes a paved pathway to a two-tiered playground featuring ramps, a fully user-accessible spinner, slides and climbers for all children to enjoy, regardless of their abilities.

"We felt it was important to compensate for the loss of the playground," explained Graham Gerylo, “and we were really excited that our Partnership with the Parks Department and Parks Foundation Calgary came together to use the seed money from the Green Line to fundraise to create the new playground.”  

As the City revitalizes, inclusive play spaces can be seen popping up around Calgary, creating an engaging atmosphere for all individuals, regardless of their abilities.  The City of Calgary aims to have one inclusive play space or recreational opportunity within a five-kilometer radius of every Calgarian. This goal is a part of Calgary's council-approved Inclusive Play Spaces Implementation Plan.

These parks are designed to be engaging and fun spaces for all individuals to enjoy and for families to have beneficial community interactions with each other.
