Having formed many of their values during their time as wildland firefighters, Mike Wenzlawe and Jamie Parker were determined to find a way to merge bold, roasted coffee with their love for outdoor exploration. Through lots of experimentation and time spent learning the art of coffee roasting, Mike and Jamie knew that they had found something special. What started as a cup of percolated coffee on a backpacking trip through Alberta’s rolling hills quickly turned into Calgary Heritage Roasting Company, a local coffee shop and roastery with its own line of rugged Canadian goods.
Located in the historic CC Snowdon Building in Calgary’s Ramsay neighborhood, Calgary Heritage Roasting Co. is only a short distance away from the Green Line LRT’s Ramsay/Inglewood and 26 Avenue SE stations.
“It’s obviously going to bring a lot more traffic, it will bring a lot more accessibility. There are always pros and cons with that, which we’re aware of, but I think the overall benefit will outweigh some of the things that will come with that,” said Mike.
With lots of local businesses popping up in the Inglewood/Ramsay area, transit is an essential contributing factor to the success and overall reach of these businesses. By providing a way for all Calgarians to easily access the Ramsay/Inglewood area, the Green Line LRT will help companies like Calgary Heritage Roasting Co. increase their customer base and spread the word of their products and services.
