Green Line Neighbours – Action Hobby
Whether it’s remote-controlled (RC) planes, boats, or automobiles, Action Hobby in Ogden is Calgary’s one stop shop for any RC enthusiast.
Located just off the intersection of Ogden Rd SE and 69 Ave SE, the shop has been around since 1991. Kiara Foisy has been the manager at Action Hobby for over 7 years.
“Along with our products we offer a great community. We try to get people into the hobby so we can all get together and have some fun,” says Kiara.
Action Hobby not only supplies RC vehicles but also provides customers with replacement parts to keep them running for years of enjoyment. The shop also offers other products like rockets, kites, and buildable plastic models.
“You’ll never find someone who’s not willing to try to get you into the hobby, and to learn it. It’s also very family orientated, like we have customers as young as 5 years old to as old as in their 90s,” says Kiara.
The future Ogden Station is just a half block south of Action Hobby’s location, making it a great way for people to access businesses in the community of Ogden.
“The Green Line will hopefully bring more customers. We already have customers where if they want to come down to the store, they need a ride because there is no train that comes down here.”
From December 1-22, Action Hobby is running a food drive for those in need around the holidays. In exchange for donations, they are giving store discounts depending on the number of items donated. All donations will be given to the Calgary Food Bank.
“It helps people who could use the food this season. Especially with the holidays coming up, everyone needs food,” says Kiara.
