Green Line Neighbours – Deerfoot Inn & Casino

As the Green Line LRT alignment goes up and over the intersection of 114 Avenue and Barlow Trail SE, Calgarians will have a good view of one of the major businesses on the route. The Deerfoot Inn and Casino has been around since 2005, and they’re looking forward to being connected to Calgary through the Green Line LRT.

“I think the Green Line project is going to be a big benefit to this city,” says Robin Featherstone, Operations Manager at the Deerfoot Inn and Casino. “Just being able to move people around the city on rail versus the bussing system, it’s obviously a lot faster.”

The Deerfoot Inn and Casino offers many amenities including full hotel services, a water park and pool, five different restaurants, and a casino. They also operate the largest convention centre in South Calgary with over 17,000 square feet of convention space.

“Whether you want to host your wedding, convention, Christmas parties, birthdays, anniversaries, whatever the case may be, we’ve got space for you,” says Robin.

The future Douglas Glen station will be a 15-minute walk from The Deerfoot Inn and Casino. Transit riders will enjoy the view of the array of local businesses as the train runs up and along the elevated guideway over the major intersection of 114 Avenue and Barlow Trail.

“We’re very excited about it, and just being able to connect with people, allowing them to experience new facilities in the south that maybe they weren’t able to access before,” says Robin.
