Green Line Neighbours – Rath Bicycle

Meet Tom Rath, part owner and bicycle technician at Rath Bicycle in Ramsay.

Tom, his wife Lori, and son Stefan, started the business back in 2013 when the idea to save a few unwanted bikes turned into a passion project for the family.

“I think old things of value are few and far between. Whether it’s an old house, or some of the older trees here in Ramsay, there’s nothing quite like it in the city. The same goes for our bikes,” says Tom.

Rath Bicycle grew from humble beginnings in a small basement in the South-West to now being regarded as local experts on vintage restoration. Their success is not only because of the beautiful work they do, but also their focus on community and how much they value their customer base. “Their vintage bikes drew me in at first, and it was their friendliness that made me want to stay for the day,” states one of many positive reviews on Rath’s website and Google page.

Tom has transformed some of the most neglected, rust covered bikes, and restored them back to their former glory – heirlooms and artifacts that can once again spark joy in their riders.

“Occasionally we get things where my wife Lori will go, ‘no, there’s no way we can do that,’ and we can do magic. There’s some evidence online,” says Tom.

Rath Bicycle can be reached through their website: rathbicycle.com. Whether it’s a restoration you’re in search of, or a bike with a little more history, check out Rath Bicycle in Ramsay, conveniently located near the future Ramsay/Inglewood LRT station.
