Meet the People Building the Green Line LRT– Jennie McBryan
Meet Jennie McBryan, a communications strategist on the Green Line LRT – SE Project Public Affairs team. Jennie has been with The City of Calgary for over 17 years and currently helps communicate information about Calgary’s largest infrastructure project.
“The role of the Public Affairs team is to tell the story of how we're building the Green Line LRT and to keep people informed about what we're doing,” says Jennie.
If you’ve seen a Green Line social media post, received a newsletter, attended an information session, or read a story like this one, the Public Affairs team had a hand in it. As the link between Calgarians and the Green Line project, they help keep the conversation flowing and the community informed.
“We take a lot of pride in what we do and try to be as transparent and timely as we can be when getting important information out there. It's just exciting to be a part of,” says Jennie.
While keeping Calgarians informed is a big part of the job, the Public Affairs team also builds and maintains relationships with contractors, partners and other interest holders. On a project as large and complex as Green Line, hundreds of professionals contribute their expertise—and many of those important stories might never be told without Public Affairs shining a light on the people doing the work.
“It's our job to look for those opportunities, to tell great stories and then to share them with the public,” says Jennie.
