About the station

This station connects to many community amenities and cultural destinations such as Prince’s Island Park, Chinatown and historic Eau Claire. It will connect transit riders to the many outdoor events and festivals, outdoor recreational spaces, and cultural and historic assets in the city centre.

This station will be integrated into the future development of the Eau Claire Market site. The underground station will be designed in a way to allow private development to occur above the station in the future. Inspired by the new Central Library, which has the Red Line LRT portal integrated beneath the building, the Eau Claire station could be developed in a similar fashion.

Green Line’s integration into the Eau Claire area is still in the early stages of design and will be coordinated with stakeholders, including the Eau Claire Area Improvements teams.

Long-term vision

As part of Calgary's Greater Downtown Plan The  City  is investing in transforming downtown towards a more balanced mix of residential, office, retail, entertainment, tourism and culture. The Green Line is an important component of this, as it will expand and enhance transit service downtown. There is also potential for new public spaces along the Green Line as part of the Public Gardens Initiative.

New development around Green Line stations

A new LRT station will spur development in this area. For a list of current planning applications near this station view The City's Development Map. Green Line works closely with the Planning & Development department on land use and development near future LRT stations. For more information visit Building, Planning & Business.
