Weeds - common

How to dispose of weeds

Put common weeds in your green cart for composting

This includes:

  • Dandelions
  • Quack grass
  • Broadleaf plantain
  • Clover
  • Chickweed
  • Pigweed / Lamb’s quarters
  • Weeds that have gone to seed

Special instructions:

If you have prohibited, noxious or invasive weeds, do NOT put in green cart.

Why can weed seeds be composted?

The high temperatures maintained in The City’s indoor composting process ensures weed seeds from common species will decompose and are not present in the finished compost.
