How to dispose
There are two ways to dispose of large kitchen appliances.
Eco Centre drop-off location

Take to a City Eco Centre
Take empty cooling appliances to a City Eco Centre for recycling – charges will apply.
These appliances use refrigerant (freon) which will result in the following costs:
- Refrigerant removal surcharge (even if the refrigerant has been removed)
- Charges for the weight of the appliance
Private metal recycling

Take to a special drop-off location
Take empty cooling appliances to a metal recycler. Some private companies may buy appliances as scrap metal, charge a fee or accept items for free. Contact a metal recycler directly to find out what they accept. Options include:
