How to dispose of Swedish dishcloths
Examples of dishcloths
- Microfiber cleaning fabrics
- Cotton and natural fibre cleaning fabrics
- Biodegradable cleaning cloths
- Compostable dishcloths like Swedish dishcloth
How to dispose
There are two ways to dispose of dishclothes.
Black cart
-
Put into your black cart
Place all types of used dishcloths into your black cart as garbage. Even if they are labelled “biodegradable” or “compostable”, they still belong in the garbage.
Textile recycling
-
Take to a City Eco Centre
Take used fabric dishcloths to a City Eco Centre for free textile recycling – if you bring other garbage, charges will apply.
Why can't this be composted?
Even if labelled as “biodegradable” or “compostable”, these types of cleaning cloths will not break down properly at the composting facility. They may also contain synthetic and plastic materials that will contaminate the finished compost.
