Jeromy Farkas, 31, is serving his first term as Ward 11 Councillor and is one of the youngest city politicians ever elected on Calgary City Council. Since taking office, Jeromy has wasted no time in bringing a common sense, fiscally conservative, and data-driven approach to his work on your behalf at City Hall.
Prior to being elected, Jeromy served at the University of Calgary for eight years and ran the Israel Studies Program. Building on his experience as a Research Team Lead in Medicine, Jeromy developed his own successful small business focused on finance and data analysis.
Jeromy is a born and raised Calgarian and graduate of the University of Calgary and Bishop Carroll High School (Go Cardinals!). Jeromy lives in the Ward 11 community of Palliser and comes from a family of entrepreneurs and teachers who have deep roots in Southwest Calgary. Jeromy is most grateful for the warm welcome Canada gave his family after escaping Communist Hungary in 1956. Jeromy has served on the executive of the Palliser, Bayview, and Pump Hill Community Association, as a director on the board of the Weaselhead Preservation Society and has worked collaboratively with Mount Royal University to mentor students.
Your Ward 11 office is focused on making City services more responsive to Calgarians while being mindful of Calgary's financial future. We are committed to restoring Calgary's advantage and securing future economic opportunity through:
Over the past two years, I have been blessed to meet thousands of Ward 11 residents in order to listen to your concerns and learn about what kind of community you want to live in. You have told me that representation matters and that you want a Councillor that leads with a strong voice, solid vision and a collaborative approach. I am committed to delivering on the issues that you’ve told me matter the most: City services, a transparent and accountable government, value for taxpayer dollars, a clean city, a safe place to raise your family, a vibrant economy, and most of all: respect for citizens.
I believe that true leadership is driven by integrity and listening to citizens. As your Councillor, it is my great privilege and responsibility to represent you and give a strong voice to your priorities. While our Ward 11 communities are some of the most established in Calgary, we are beginning to face the pressures on important issues such as transportation, redevelopment, and public safety. My personal and professional experiences have taught me that representation matters. I am committed every day to being a strong champion to build up and protect the future of Ward 11 communities, families, and businesses.
