Looking for some free, high quality programs for youth? We offer programs that are open at no cost. These registered and drop-in programs offer many different activities for youth and are available in various community locations across Calgary. View programs schedule.

Types of programs
LEAD (Pre-registration is required)
LEAD is a free leadership program for youth ages 11 to 17. In this program, youth will learn to develop and practice leadership skills while earning credibility, recognition and opportunities in the community that will strengthen their leadership skills. Participants are required to complete 20 hours of practicum experience that will enhance their skills even further in a hands-on practical way. Program registration is required. LEAD 2.0 (Pre-registration is required)
LEAD 2.0 is The City’s next step youth leadership program for youth 11 years and up. Graduates of LEAD can enhance their leadership skills, exercise their critical thinking, develop job skills and discover the positive impact they can have in their community. Participants must have completed LEAD or Nature LEAD to be eligible to register for the program. For more information, view the 2019 Community Summer Program schedule. Zone Up is a free drop-in basketball leadership program for youth ages 11-17 that gives participants the opportunity to learn and enhance their basketball abilities while developing transferable leadership skills such as team work, problem solving, team collaboration, planning, and facilitation skills for both on and off the court. Youth will also have the opportunity to coach and mentor younger children in the community to practice learned leadership skills and to increase a sense of community.
