Return to Bee a Polli-neighbour

Documenting flora and fauna around the world is quickly changing. In the past, most species were recorded by experts performing scientific studies. Advancements in technology has revolutionized the way we discover new species and verify the existence of those that have not been seen for many years.

With the click of a camera button and using the internet, nature enthusiasts can submit sightings of the natural world to be identified and confirmed by experts. Whether on vacation or in your own backyard, snap a photo the next time your see a hummingbird or a bumblebee and help contribute to our scientific knowledge of local wildlife.

Capture Calgary

The City of Calgary has been using wildlife cameras to capture images of local wildlife in fourteen local parks since 2017. If you are interested in becoming a citizen scientist from the comfort of your own home, consider helping Calgary Parks identify the different types of wild animals we have caught on camera though our Calgary Captured program or learn more about the wildlife we have caught on camera through the I'm a Calgarian campaign.

Submit photos

Has a backyard bumblebee caught your attention? Information about the types and numbers of pollinators in our city helps inform the decision making process when creating pollinator-friendly landscapes that support biodiversity. Consider submitting a photo of your find to Bumble Bee Watch or iNaturalists to contribute to a better understanding of our local pollinators and wildlife.
