Glenmore Sailing School facility improvement

Glenmore Sailing School

Facility Improvement 2020-2021

The Glenmore Sailing School has operated in Calgary for over 50 years. They make it affordable for Calgarians to learn sailing and boating safety skills and use the Glenmore Reservoir for recreational sailing.

The existing building in South Glenmore Park was built in 1966 and no longer meets the amenity and space requirements for participants. Upgrades will increase usable space, improve accessibility and allow for more year-round use.

The upgraded building will include:

  • Additional instructional space
  • Additional change rooms
  • Accessible restrooms
  • Storage space for equipment

Timing and impact

The Glenmore Sailing School building will be closed for renovation until Summer 2021. Construction will take place during the off season to limit the impact to sailing programs.

The new facility is expected to open during the 2021 season.

We understand that construction will have an impact on the community. We will do our best to minimize disruption and ensure the safety of our neighbours. The contractor will adhere to The City’s Community Standards Bylaw, 5M2004 for hours of operation, material storage and construction best practices (including dust mitigation). If you have questions, contact 311.
