Kids & Company

Kids & Company provides a nurturing and educational early-learning environment for children to play, discover and grow.  They offer proprietary curriculum such as Alpha-Mania (pre-reading), Mini Masters (art program introducing visionary artists), Munchkinetics (fitness and movement), sign language, music, science, and structured and unstructured play.

Flexible care options available to City of Calgary employees

The City of Calgary has purchased an annual corporate membership with Kids & Company. The membership provides City employees guaranteed access to full-time or part-time daycare space (within six months) and emergency back-up childcare. Employees choosing to access Kids and Company services are responsible for all applicable fees. The City does not offer payroll deduction services as a method of payment.

Who is eligible?

All City of Calgary employees currently paying into a City benefits plan are eligible to purchase services under The City's Kids & Company membership.

Please note that should your employment with The City of Calgary end, you will no longer be able to access the services of Kids & Company under The City's membership. You will have a three-month grace period to find alternate arrangements. Any unused back-up visits you have purchased will also be void.

Full-time or part-time childcare

Guaranteed part-time or full-time childcare is available within six months of registration for children up to six years of age.

Costs for these services are available by contacting a Kids & Company location. For City employees, the $200 registration fee is waived for full-time or part-time care.

Back-up childcare

City employees can purchase back-up childcare for children up to age 12 at $80/day for a maximum of 5 days per calendar year.

If you are interested in using the backup service, it is recommended to preregister your child(ren) via Kids & Company's website at

  • Go to "Get Started" and select 'City of Calgary' from the drop-down menu.
  • Complete a Parent Enrollment Form and a User Name/Password will be sent via email enabling parents to register for back-up service.
  • After completing the back-up form, please call the Kids & Company centre of your choice and reserve your days.

ACE Child Development Centre (Municipal Building)

The Association of Civic Employees (A.C.E.) Child Development Centre is a quality non-profit child care centre that caters to children between the ages of 6 months and 6 years old. It is located on the ground floor of the Municipal Building and prioritizes the children of City of Calgary employees on the wait list.

The centre is operated by an Executive Director and Program Supervisor while governed by a volunteer Board of Directors elected by and made up of the centre’s parents. The centre is licensed with the Government of Alberta and accredited through the Alberta Association for the Accreditation of Early Learning and Care Services (AELCS) recognizing the centre for its excellence in child care.

The educational program is based on the most up to date and recent findings in child care. With the support of parents, our trained and experienced child care staff aim to provide children the varied learning experiences that will help them to develop socially, intellectually, physically and emotionally in a manner appropriate to their age and stage of development.

ACE offers full-time, part-time and drop-in care. Drop-in care is subject to age (20 months-6 years of age) and availability.
