Founder Bolstered by his own passion for entrepreneurship, community building, as well as plants, Dee Alausa opened Soil and Soul in November 2021, after freshly graduating from Mount Royal UniversityMRU.

With a passion for entrepreneurship, building community and plants, Dee is amazed by the support he’s received so far and understands the value that  believes that small businesses bring to are important to Calgarians:y, and is amazed by the support Soil and Soul has received so far.

 “I find small businesses to be more personable, because you get that one-on-one experience with the store owner and can really find those unique items.”

Soil and Soul has a There is a plant for everyone and they’re available, categorized simply by caretaking difficulty and to lighting needs. And advanced plant parents can even try growing some of Soil and Soul’s exotic species!

“Once someone sees that first leaf grow, it inspires them to really care for that plant,” shared Dee.

As construction related to Green Line continues, it’s important to understand what local business owners expect from the mega project’s delivery. Dee expects his plants will quickly find new homes with more patrons visiting his business, “Being close to two Green Line stations will be really impactful and exciting for Soil and Soul, it’s an exciting development for Calgary.”
