Experience open, outdoor winter fun at Chinook Blast – Calgary’s midwinter roundup

Come outside, bring your small cohort and enjoy the vibrancy of our downtown this winter. Local artists are illuminating our winter weekend nights from February 11-28 in the Chinook Blast Hub, an outdoor art park, as well as a number of other sites around downtown.

There's lots to love about our city so the Calgary Downtown Association turned some of their favourite hometown factoids into a series of seven YYC-themed Valentine's Day cards. Find them at selected downtown businesses, hotels or with one of our Downtown Ambassadors starting February 8, 2021.

Downtown Ambassadors lending a helping hand

The Calgary Downtown Association’s Downtown Ambassadors are out and about on Stephen Avenue and around the City Hall connecting Calgarians with services, information and support. They’re helping our city’s most vulnerable people get help and connect with social services. Look for the team in their bright red jackets, if you need information or help.

mCloud Technologies Corp., a world leader in using artificial intelligence to measure and mitigate energy waste is moving its head office to downtown Calgary. This move is an effort to be closer to its energy industry customers and to take advantage of Calgary’s engineering and tech talent base.

Nordic loop brings skiing to the East Village

The area around Fort Calgary has been transformed into the East Village Nordic Loop a one kilometre-long, groomed cross-country skiing loop. Calgary Municipal Land Corporation, Fort Calgary and the Foothills Ski Club are grooming this downtown and Bow River adjacent loop throughout the winter to give Calgarians a socially-distanced workout space, in the heart of Calgary’s centre.
