East Calgary Truck Maintenance and Storage Facility
About the project
More than 365,000 Calgary households rely on The City for regular garbage, recycling, and compost collection. Behind these services is a fleet of specialized collection vehicles that must be inspected, maintained, and stored so they are ready to operate safely every day. This facility helps keep those vehicles on the road and supports reliable collection service across Calgary. Expanding the facility will provide the capacity needed to support a growing fleet as Calgary continues to grow.
The City is upgrading and expanding an aging maintenance and storage facility that supports the Waste & Recycling fleet. The improved facility will provide the space needed to maintain and store collection vehicles, increase operational efficiency, improve worker safety, and support the growing service needs of Calgarians.
The facility is located on approximately eight acres adjacent to the East Calgary Landfill at 1827 – 68 Street SE. The project is currently in the design phase and construction timelines have not yet been confirmed. Operations at the site will continue during construction using temporary facilities, with no anticipated disruption to neighbouring communities or traffic patterns.
