Peigan Trail S.E. Expansion

The City of Calgary has completed the preliminary engineering phase related to the expansion of Peigan Trail from Barlow Trail S.E. to 84 Street S.E.

Decisions about the next project phase will be made late in 2018 or in early 2019 when current and future projects are prioritized and confirmed for funding.

About the project

The preliminary engineering phase included:

  • recording existing roadway conditions
  • coordinating required utility work
  • preliminary stormwater design
  • preliminary roadway design, and
  • examining environmental impacts and mitigations.

The project scope included approximately 6.5 kilometres of Peigan Trail from Barlow Trail in the west to 84 Street in the east. Much of Peigan Trail is a two-lane roadway; this project investigated the expansion to four-lanes in the interim stage, as well as the ultimate six-lanes.
