Study overview

From the study, a proposed plan has been developed for the extension and realignment of Métis Trail (formerly 44th Street N.E.) between 80th Avenue N.E. and the future Stoney Trail. Métis Trail is an expressway planned to provide more direct access to Deerfoot Trail, Stoney Trail and McKnight Boulevard in the city's northeast sector. The extension is intended to meet the growing needs of this busy quadrant of the city.

A number of interchange/intersection designs are proposed at key locations along Métis Trail that will ultimately tie-in with Stoney Trail. The plan also identifies what land needs to be set aside and storm water management strategies.

Public engagement information

Adjacent landowners had the opportunity to view the proposed plan and provide feedback at an information session on October 19, 2006. Residents were also invited to view and provide feedback on the proposed Métis Trail Extension Plan at information sessions held for the Northeast Area Structure Plan on November 16, 2006 at Bishop McNalley High School and on March 28, 2007 at the Falconridge/Castleridge Community Hall.
