Yard waste - Grass clippings

How to compost grass clippings

Leave grass clippings on your lawn after you mow; or

Put grass clippings in your green cart for composting.

  • Put grass clippings in loose in cart; or
  • Use a paper yard waste bag to prevent clippings sticking to the cart.

Special instructions

If your green cart is full:

  • Put excess grass clippings in paper yard waste bags.
  • Bags have a 20 kg weight limit. Make sure bags are rolled up and can be easily lifted.

Set bags at least 0.5m (two feet) to the side of your green cart. Do not lean bags against the cart or on top of the cart lid.

During the busy yard season, we will collect material inside green carts, but may limit the number of extra paper bags we pick up to make sure everyone gets service.
