Community parks and playgrounds

City playgrounds closed

All City-operated playgrounds (equipment only) are now closed. Over the next few days, we will be placing signage at all 1,100 City-operated playgrounds.

While City-operated playground are closing, Calgary’s parks will remain open. Calgary has 8,000 hectares of parks spaces and nearly 1,000 km of pathways. Park users are asked to stay at least six feet apart and avoid touching equipment with hard surfaces as they are not disinfected regularly. Use of City park amenities are done at your own risk.

The City of Calgary Parks manages and maintains more than 1,100 playgrounds and 5,600 park sites city-wide.

Playgrounds are inspected regularly and those nearing the end of their lifecycle are looked at through the playground optimization program.

Community groups seeking to improve or build a playground are encouraged to start with this Community Playground Workbook.
